To celebrate ThriftyClair.com turning 2, I have decided to share a list of what I think are some of the best birthday freebies!
1 – What’s a birthday without fizz?
Birthday drinks are the best – especially when they are free! One of my favourites is from Pizza Express – sign up on their website or download their app and get a voucher for a free bottle of prosecco when buying two main meals. Lots of other places, like Prezzo and Zizzi, also offer similar deals.
2 – Birthday ready brows!
Make sure your eyebrows are looking perfect for your birthday night out with a free brow wax at any Debenhams with a Benefit Brow Bar. To claim yours, simply sign up for a Beauty Club card and get a few wax within four weeks of your birthday.
3 – Vino at Veeno!
One of my all time favourite birthday promotions, free wine tasting of five delicious Sicilian wines, a food pairing platter and a mini tiramisu with a tiny glass of Marsala wine. I’ve been a few times to a few different locations and I love the place, you can have a read my old post Veeno – The Italian Wine Cafe to find out more.
Unfortuately in the last few years, the prices have gone up slightly and the wine tasting now starts at £29.90 per person but it’s totally worth it, especially when you get it free on your birthday as long as you are with another full paying guest. 4 – Birthday Cake!
What’s a birthday without cake? Get a free sweet treat from Greggs when you download their rewards app. If cookies are more your thing, sign up to Subway rewards a get a free birthday cookie. Or maybe get both because no one will judge you for eating lots of sugary treats on your birthday!
5 – Winner winner, chicken dinner!
Yard & Coop do the best buttermilk chicken EVER! When you sign up to their website you get a free side dish on your first visit plus you get a free main meal on your birthday. Yes, a whole meal! One of my favourites from the menu… The Massive Cock burger which really lives up to expectation (try to spot it in the picture below)! They also serve some delicious cocktails, my favourite is Rule the Roost. They currently have three locations in Liverpool, Manchester and Leeds. Sign up to their newsletter here.
6 – Vouchers, discount codes and gift cards!
Lots of retailers offer one-off discount codes as a birthday treat. I tend to make the most out of these deals by doubling them up with any gift cards I get as presents as well any other deals there might be. One of my favourite retailers to use is New Look as you can use their gift cards online as well as in store. The same goes for H&M, you can use their app to claim your birthday discount.
8 – Cocktails for 12?
This one is my sister’s favourite birthday deal. Get a free cocktail for you and up to eleven friends when dining on your birthday at TGI’s! To claim this amazing deal, you need to download their app and sign up with your date of birth, you’ll receive your offer code 7 days before you birthday. Download the TGI Fridays UK App, use my code ClairHugh9391 for 25 bonus points, then scan your receipt barcodes to earn stripes and unlock rewards!
9 – Get crafty for free!
Hobbycraft give club members a free £5 voucher to spend in store or online to celebrate their birthday. There’s no minimum spend so you can treat youself to some craft materials without having to spend any cash! Argos also send out £5 voucher to their customers as a birthday treat so keep your eye out for that one too.
10 – Pets can get birthday freebies too!
Members of the Pets at Home VIP club will receive a voucher for a free bag of treats on their pet’s birthday. Poppy and I love going to Pets at Home for a special treat – especially when it’s free!

The eyebrow one is one of my favourites, they also offer a free facial on the Beauty Card but only at certain stores. They don’t do it at my local so I’ve never got it.

That’s brilliant! It’s always good to plan ahead what you want to get. I missed out on so many last year as I had just started a new job and was moving house all within weeks/days of turning 30. This year I’m definitely going to make the most of them all. Let me know what else you get x

I shall do, I’ve seen that I can get a box of chocolates from Hotel Chocolat so think I’m going to pick that up tomorrow and then can’t wait for my £5 body shop voucher to come through as that’s always a nice treat! X

A few people on Instagram have mentioned the Hotel Chocolat one, I tend to miss out on that as I don’t have a local store. The body shop one is brilliant, in fact, any that give a fiver off are amazing!
